Where do these gasoline prices come from?

From the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Average Price series APU000074714: unleaded regular gasoline, per gallon, US city average. It is the official public-domain source. This page is not endorsed by or affiliated with the BLS.

Is this today's pump price?

No — it is the official monthly average, published once per CPI release. For live pump prices use a daily tracker; for analysis, history and honest month-over-month comparisons, this is the series economists use.

How often is it updated?

Monthly, on each CPI release (8:30 AM ET, typically days 10–18 of the following month). Months the BLS did not publish are shown as gaps — never estimated.
